  I'm sure you've heard the phrase "Good night, don't let the bed bugs bit". Most everyone thought that was just a saying but the scary truth is that Bed Bugs do exist and they will bite. So, where do these little buggers come from and how do you prevent them from invading your home?  

   Bed bugs are great hitch hikers, they can move from place to place by sneaking a ride in your Furniture, luggage, a purse or even on your clothing. Knowing what to look for is key to insuring you don't let them into your home. Bed bugs are typically 3/16 - 1/4in, they are long, flat and oval shaped if they've not fed and if they have fed recently they'll be more balloon like and reddish brown in color. 

   Now that you know what to look for where do you need to look? When their not feeding, bed bugs tend to nest in seems in your mattress, the cracks and crevices of your furniture and piping that might be near by. They can travel between 5 - 20 ft from their harborage to feed. 

   You've positively identified Bed Bugs and you're ready to get rid of them, what is the next step? Well, preparation is key! Whether you are a DIY'er or you're going to hire a professional to do the treatment for you it is important that you are ready before any pesticide is used. Making sure all linens are picked up, personal belongings are cleaned out of the furniture and put in sealed bags and that you have a place you can go for a few hours while the treatment is being done.
